  1.                      Hemophillia (Bleeding Disease)
  2. SYMPTOMS. Hemophillia is a bleeding disease that produces profuse bleeding
  3. from wounds or minor cuts. Bleeding may also begin in the gastrointestinal
  4. tract, under the skin, in the gums and in the joints and muscles. Stiffness
  5. in the joints may accompany bleeding in the joints and muscles.
  6. CAUSES. Hemophillia is an inherited disorder which is passed on to the male
  7. by the female. The victim has an impaired ability of the blood to clot. This
  8. is due to a deficiency of factor VIII, which is a blood substance that is
  9. needed for coagulation.
  10. TREATMENT. The missing blood factor must be replaced through treatment.
  11. .The victim may need a blood transfusion if the bleeding has been serious.
  12. .The victim should carry a wallet card advising of this disorder.
